It’s ironic that my last post here (about a year ago) was me announcing the end of a hiatus. Little did I know I was about to embark on a much longer blog break.
It seems pointless for me to detail everything I did and saw and experienced in the last year. As much as I like to thing I’ve changed and grown, I always remember that lyric from “Put Your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae—the more things seem to change, the more they stay the same. She probably didn’t come up with that but I feel the need to credit somebody (if there’s one thing college really drills into you, it’s not to plagiarize).
So what has brought me back to the blogosphere? Not sure. This honestly might be a blip, and I might go back to posting my more personal day-to-day activites on my finsta (fake Instagram). What’s going to be different this time around is that I’m not going to force myself to write a summary of my week every Sunday night. This time I want my writing to come organically, and I want to write about whatever I want. Nobody really cares about the intense inner workings of the Emily Gerard machine, but they might care about what I’ve learned along the way.
I’m not sure when I’ll be back to post again, but because I spent almost two hours this morning perfecting the site’s aesthetic, I’m pretty sure I’ll be back sometime soon.
